Brow tint vs henna brows: which lasts longer?
Brow tint and henna brows both add colour, but they work differently. Tint colours the hair. Henna colours the hair and stains the skin underneath, which can make brows look fuller for a little longer.
Brow tint at a glance
A brow tint is a professional dye mixed with a mild developer and painted onto the brow hairs. It darkens fair or grey hairs, evens out patchy colour and makes the brow shape look more defined.

- Best for: fair, grey or uneven hair, clients who want a natural result, and as the finishing step after brow lamination.
InLei® tints are mixed 1:1 with InLei® Developer Cream 1.5% (5 vol.), a gentle strength made for the eye area. The range runs from Natural Blonde and Light Hair to Cappuccino, Chestnut, Brown and Shiny Black, and most shades contain argan oil.
Henna brows at a glance
Henna for brows is a plant-based dye, usually blended with other colourants for brow shades. It sits on the skin as well as the hair, so it creates a soft, powdered look.
- Appointment time: 30 to 45 minutes.
- Lasts on the skin: about one to two weeks, longer on dry skin.
- Lasts on the hair: similar to tint.
- Best for: sparse brows where you want the skin filled in, and clients who prefer a defined, made-up look.

Brow tint and wax, or tint and shape
Most salons combine a tint with a wax or thread to tidy the shape. Tint is usually applied first so the brow artist can see every hair before shaping.
Lash and brow tint

Aftercare for both
- Avoid water, steam and exfoliating the area for 24 hours.
- Cleanse with an oil-free product: oils lift colour faster. InLei® Aloe Vera Mousse is oil-free.
- Exfoliate gently once a week after the first few days to keep the skin even.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a brow tint take?
The colour itself develops in a few minutes. A full brow tint appointment, including consultation, shaping and clean-up, usually takes 15 to 30 minutes.
How long does a brow tint last?
On the hair, about three to six weeks. On the skin, a tint stain fades within a few days. Oily skin and frequent cleansing shorten both.
Does henna last longer than tint?
Henna usually stains the skin for longer than tint, which gives a fuller, filled-in look for a week or two. On the hairs themselves the two last a similar time.
Can I tint my lashes and brows at the same time?
Yes. Lash and brow tint is a common combined appointment. Professional tints such as InLei®'s are made for both lashes and brows.
Do I need a patch test?
Yes. Any salon should patch test before your first tint or henna treatment, and again if you have not had one for a while.
